Celebration Amids Accursed Victory, what a pyrrhic victory for Edeoga!

At sometimes in life, most desperate fellows may prefer to win at something, rather than to lose. And it is also likely that most of them have at some point or other achieved a victory, and, rather than reveling in their success, have had to ask themselves some variation of ‘I’ve won … but at what price?’ If you have achieved a win at excessively great cost you shall then be familiar with the *Pyrrhic victory.*
A Pyrrhic victory shall therefore be seen as a victory that is not worth winning because so much is lost to achieve it. In other words, pyrrhic victory is a questionable victory. The word comes from the name of Pyrrhus, a long-ago king of Epirus, who suffered heavy losses in defeating the Romans at Asculum in Apulia in 279 B.C.E.
There are few attributes that shouldn’t be found missing in the lives of political leaders; Honesty, courage, leadership, intelligence and integrity. Most political leaders today possess none of the above.
Richard Greco, a Science and Foreign Language Teacher in North Central South Dakota (1964–2004), he said that to be a good politician it takes intelligence, the ability to comprehend the issues, it takes experience so you know how to accomplish that which you are striving for and it takes character coupled with honesty.
According to him, ‘’I am not saying it takes all this to be a successful politician but I am talking about being a good politician and not all successful politicians are good politicians.’’
In Enugu state, the political atmosphere has never been perceived with such a heat as we see today due to the involvement of some political desperados in the race. Since the peaceful conclusion of PDP primaries in the state followed by the porting of few disgruntled guber contestants to another party, it has been from one drama to another.
